HEADBANGERS! It's been a while! How we doing? I'm hoping the start of this holiday season finds you well-fed and happy. As some of you probably know, the last post on this web site came in January - speaking about a return from an already lengthy hiatus. Well, it would wind up being a post in vain as that hiatus continued throughout almost all of 2016. Of course, I have enjoyed being a father and family man during this time, but it was definitely time to get back into the saddle of Headbanger's Forum!
There have been quite a few new albums released since my last post with the likes of Highly Suspect, Ghost, Korn, and The Pretty Reckless (to name a few) all adding new entries to their catalog in recent weeks. In fact, most releases have come from bands that I have yet to review on this site - the new content is practically writing itself. But, I shouldn't get ahead of myself.
During what I will candidly call the Forum's "initial run", I heavily over-extended myself - trying like hell to compete with sites like Blabbermouth and Alternative Press - to provide you with the most comprehensive Rock music coverage on the internet. Turns out, one man doesn't have enough muscle to challenge sites with teams of writers and supporters. Who knew? So, I've decided to write and operate within my means for a change. Enter the podcast.
I occasionally do a video update on the Forum's YouTube channel. The camera does not love me, but the microphone has yet to complain. It seems to be a faster way to convey what I am trying to say to my readers. This new-found method of communication came to me via a bit of an obsession with a podcast by soccer pundits Michael Davies and Roger Bennett entitled "Men in Blazers". The new episodes have become somewhat of a weekly fixture for me. I want to provide you with the same thing. And, don't worry - I'll leave my other obsession at the door.
The podcast is streaming on Podbean at www.headbangersforum.podbean.com and new episodes will hopefully be posted weekly. I am still waiting on iTunes approval and will post here and on the pod feed when that has been achieved. Before I go, I want to first - thank you for sticking with me. My family will always come first, and I'm beyond thankful to my wife and daughter Avery for their continued support on this venture. I also want to offer a shoutout to the band Wilson (@wilsonparties on Twitter) for the use of their cover of Rage Against the Machine's "Sleep Now in the Fire" as my intro/outro. I only hope the pod can live up to the intensity of that song.
Thanks and enjoy your Sunday!
